- Support a $15 minimum wage.
- Create legislation that will incentivize companies and industries that are focused on the future such as renewable energy, technology, and advanced manufacturing.
- Advocate for small business owners and entrepreneurs who are the foundation of a growing economy.
- Support legislation that continues to attract companies to relocate to Kentucky and make investments in our Commonwealth and our people.
- Advocate for workers, whose wellbeing is key to a thriving community and thriving economy.
Education
Colleen is from a family of educators and knows firsthand the impact a high-quality public education can have on a child’s future.
- Raise teacher and school support staff pay.
- Fully fund our public schools.
- Secure educators’ pensions.
- Stand up to extremist legislation that would allow book bans.
- Advocate for universal pre-kindergarten for all Kentucky kids.
Healthcare
Healthcare is a human right. No one should have to make a decision between their medication and their mortgage, and that’s why Colleen will work every day to create access to affordable healthcare solutions.
- Protect Kynect from being repealed.
- Expand coverage of services offered by Medicaid.
- Expand conditions that private insurers must cover.
- Support legislation to ensure access to life saving medical care for Kentuckians.
Public Safety
Colleen believes that the best public safety plan is one where we invest in our community so that it can thrive, where community leaders have the resources they need to help those in need, and where first responders are not hamstrung by the legislature in their efforts to keep us safe.
- Advocate for the enactment of red flag laws to curb gun violence and keep weapons out of the hands of the mentally ill.
- Support funding for community activities and community centers to offer programs that provide healthy, safe outlets for kids.
- Work with our post secondary institutions, community and technical colleges, and labor unions to provide job training and educational opportunities for low income families so that they have the opportunity to rise out of poverty.
- Support competitive pay for first responders.
Reproductive Rights
Extreme laws like the Kentucky Legislature’s abortion ban hurts women and families. The abortion ban forces women to carry a pregnancy to term even when they are the victim of rape or incest. Colleen will work to repeal this dangerous ban on women’s autonomy and power to make their own healthcare decisions.
- Work to repeal the Kentucky abortion ban law.
- Create policy based on the premise that reproductive healthcare is healthcare, and decisions about it should be between a woman and her doctor, not by politicians.
- Stand up against extreme legislation that would ban access to contraception.
